Thomas Constantine was raised by his mother, Alice, in Liverpool, England after his father Bill was killed in World War I. He had many siblings and worked in the docks just like his father did.
He met and married Mary Ann Quinn and had a daughter. Soon after he lost an arm and became unable to care for his family. He turned to alcoholism. Mary became pregnant a second time and died giving birth to John Constantine.
Thomas resented John, who was raised largely by his sister Cheryl. He died in Liverpool in 1990.
